The Friends raise money to help the Rogers Memorial Library by sponsoring programs and services not normally met by public funding.
Since 1973, our all volunteer organization has helped the library provide education, culture and fun for people of all ages.
We sponsor classical, jazz and popular music concerts.
We support reading clubs for adults, teens and children.
We’ve donated a Steinway Grand piano, Chromebook tablets and Kindle and Nook e-readers.
We offer free passes for library patrons, to many world-class New York City and local museums:
In New York City: American Museum of Natural History, Brooklyn Botanic Garden, MoMA, Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum, The Frick Collection, Guggenheim Museum and the New-York Historical Society Museum & Library.
On the East End: Bridge Gardens, LongHouse Reserve, Children’s Museum of the East End, Parrish Art Museum, Shinnecock Nation Cultural Center & Museum and the South Fork Natural History Museum.
And we underwrite team building and recognition events for the staff at the Rogers Memorial Library.
Our funding comes entirely from the proceeds of our popular bookshop and membership donations.
